An exceedingly rare lantern clock in its original oak case of primitive type, dating from the 1680s, the clock monogrammed 'BH', probably originating from West Yorkshire. This is an exceptionally rare example of a prototype clock illustrating the very beginnings of the longcase clock. The clock was made with a short,verge pendulum, converted later to anchor escapement and long pendulum. It is uncleaned but in running order. This clock is featured in my book 'Lantern Clocks'.
